Stimulus Bill Includes Important Changes to HIPAA Requirements

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the “Stimulus Bill”), which President Obama signed on Feb. 17, 2009, changes several requirements related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

(Arlington, Va.) -- The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) today announced that former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt will deliver the keynote address at the 2010 National Chiropractic Legislative Conference (NCLC) with the Chiropractic Summit Feb. 24-27 in Washington, D.C. Ret. Brig. Gen. Becky Halstead, spokesperson for the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, will also speak at the event.

SENATE BILL CLOCKS IN AT $849B

The Senate's health overhaul bill would cost $849 billion over 10 years and cut the deficit by $127 billion in its first decade, followed by another $650 billion cut in the deficit in its second decade, according to a preliminary CBO analysis. The package, complied by Senate Majority Leader Reid, would expand insurance coverage to 94 percent of the population.
