Re: Chronic/Recurrent Care Consensus Project

Dear Chiropractic Leader:

We need your help.  As you know, the Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters’ (CCGPP) has embarked on a mission to produce a long overdue chronic care guideline for our society.  Now that summer is coming to an end, it’s time to initiate and complete this project.  Completing this project could impact in a very positive way the success of our profession in helping millions of patients control chronic pain, often without the use of drugs and surgery.

Partisan Positions Harden on Health Reform Issue as Public and Senior Concerns are Amplified in Town Hall Forums

 

In reaction to the growing negative media coverage associated with the national health reform issue, including the continued rebroadcast by cable news networks of contentious “town hall” meetings featuring citizen participants that are often angry and agitated, the public at large, and senior citizens especially, are growing more skeptical and confused over the direction of health care reform is taking, according to recent national polling data available to the ACA.

Members of Congress Catch Flack – Town Hall Meetings Showcase Public’s Growing Concerns With Health Reform

Although enacting a comprehensive national health reform bill remains a top priority of President Obama and the Democrat leadership in the U.S. House and Senate, members of Congress are finding the task increasingly difficult, as public concern continues to mount over the direction the reform process is taking in Washington, with many Americans now believing Congress will ultimately make things worse rather than improving the current health delivery system.  Public unease regarding reform details, along with the uncertain impact proposed legislation could have on the existing delivery system, has grown substantially over the past thirty days, according to a number of recently published public opinion polls. Many observers believe these concerns will continue to grow over the August congressional recess period -- both the House and Senate having failed to pass a bill through either chamber prior to adjourning until after Labor Day.

FTC to Delay “Red Flags” Enforcement until Nov. 1

As we reported last week, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations stating that financial institutions and creditors be required to develop and execute written identity theft prevention programs otherwise known as the “Red Flags Rules” were slated to go into effect this Saturday. 
However, to give all affected parties more time to review this guidance and develop and implement written Identity Theft Prevention Programs, theFTC will further delay enforcement of the rule until Nov. 1, 2009.  Click here for more information regarding this issue and what you need to do.

National Health Care Reform – House Health Deal Reached; No Floor Vote until September

House leaders, the White House and members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee reached a deal Wednesday on a health care overhaul. The committee is slated to vote on the bill by Friday, according to Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA).   A primary component of the deal includes a promise from Democratic leaders to hold off on a floor vote until September.
