Summit Press Announcement

August 24, 2009, 9:41 am

This CHIROPRACTIC SUMMIT ACTION ALERT BULLETIN concerns impending action by the U.S. Congress to enact national health care reform legislation - and it is EXTREMELYIMPORTANT that you RESPOND WITHOUT DELAY as outlined below.

Dear Doctor:

As you may know, Congress recently adjourned for its traditional August recess period without completing work on a finalized national health reform bill.  However, immediately after Labor Day, Congress is expected to accelerate the reform process - and most observers continue to predict the enactment of a completed comprehensive bill in the fall of this year.

Members of Congress Catch Flack – Town Hall Meetings Showcase Public’s Growing Concerns With Health Reform

Although enacting a comprehensive national health reform bill remains a top priority of President Obama and the Democrat leadership in the U.S. House and Senate, members of Congress are finding the task increasingly difficult, as public concern continues to mount over the direction the reform process is taking in Washington, with many Americans now believing Congress will ultimately make things worse rather than improving the current health delivery system.  Public unease regarding reform details, along with the uncertain impact proposed legislation could have on the existing delivery system, has grown substantially over the past thirty days, according to a number of recently published public opinion polls. Many observers believe these concerns will continue to grow over the August congressional recess period -- both the House and Senate having failed to pass a bill through either chamber prior to adjourning until after Labor Day.
