CCGPP update
March 3, 2010, 1:35 pm
The board had a conference call recently and voted to initiate this process.
1: Acute care literature synthesis and subsequent delphi panel are complete. Current project is a Delphi panel to develop guidelines for chronic musculoskeletal care. Round one led to 35 pages of comments. Round 2 has been returned with all but one panelist responding. The review of round 2 should be complete in two weeks. Once the process is complete, the team will write a paper and hopefully publish it in JMPT. This will mark the first chiropractic chronic care paper. 2: Clinical prediction rules for spinal manipulation. A new research project has been proposed to develop clinical prediction rules for spinal manipulation. It is believed that the entire profession would support such a study as the criteria for performing a manipulation goes beyond patient symptoms. The physical therapy profession is actively involved in developing a similar study and it is believed that if we don’t do the same, they will further erode our authority of spinal manipulation. Drs. Jay Triano and Carl Cleveland have proposed this study at the request of CCGPP and in conjunction with the ACC Subluxation Task Force, and have a team assembled to begin the work. Dr. Triano estimates that it will cost $60,000 to complete the project. Cleveland College has already distilled $40,000 worth of research relevant to this study. a motion to release $10,000 to begin the study with an additional $10,000 to be released every 6 months until a total of $60,000 has been paid. The board voted to release $10,000 to begin the study with an additional $10,000 to be released every 6 months until a total of $60,000 has been paid. CCGPP is trying to generate corporate sponsors and Core Products came on board. Core Products, owner, Phil Matteson.. Phil has agreed that this gift ought to be a matching gift. For every dollar the profession donates to CCGPP, he will match it up to $10,000. This is a great opportunity for us to engage the profession, especially regarding our two most pressing and important projects:
