Medicare Fee Schedule Update
June 21, 2010, 11:13 am
On Friday, the Senate passed HR 3962 which delays the scheduled 21% Medicare fee decrease and and allows for a 2.2% Medicare fee increase from June 1, 2010 through November 30, 2010. The House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on this bill Tuesday evening.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) had previously indicated they would hold all Medicare claims until June 18. As final Congressional action was not taken prior to that date, CMS has instructed contractors to process claims with the 21% fee decrease. CMS has indicated that once Congress takes action and the bill is signed by the President, claims that were processed with the decrease will be automatically reprocessed. Providers may want to wait to submit any Medicare claims from June until after final action is taken by the House of Representatives. Please contact your House representatives regarding the Medicare fee schedule and urge them to quickly address this important issue.
